Camp Counselor
Supervisor: Family Services Director
Prerequisites:
The counselors must have specialized skill in at least three of the
following areas: athletics; drama; story telling; low organized
games; social recreation; arts & crafts; music; quiet games; and
nature studies. The individual should have some leadership
experience, either paid or volunteer, with youth service
organizations, children or adult groups. Must have current
certification in CPR and First Aid.
General Responsibilities:
The Camp counselors will be under the direction and responsible to
the Camp Director and or Assistant Camp Director. Counselors will
direct and instruct a group of individuals in a variety of
activities and skills.
Specific Responsibilities:
1.
To organize, direct, instruct and lead activities associated
with the program.
2.
To submit all required reports to the camp director or
assistant camp director such as Accident Report, Incident Reports,
Leader’s Evaluations and distribute Participant Evaluations.
3.
Keep accurate attendance records.
4.
The Counselor is responsible for ensuring that the areas is
left in the same, if not better condition, at the conclusion of each
day
5.
Refer any problems or concerns, which the counselor is not able
to handle to the camp director or assistant director.
6.
Develop activities for weekly lesson plans to be turned in to
the camp director.
7.
Attend staff meetings and make use of any printed materials to
increase their ability to perform duties.
8.
Check all equipment to insure that it is in safe condition at
the beginning and conclusion of each day.
9.
Report any damage to buildings, equipment, parks or unsafe
conditions to the camp director or assistant director.
10.
Maintain good public relations with people in the community, on
and off duty, and always keep a neat and clean appearance.
11.
The counselor will return any equipment or unused supplies to
the camp director or assistant director.
12.
To stay in direct supervision of all participating children
from the time the children arrive to when the children are picked up
by the proper individual.
13.
To abide by the policies and procedures as described in the
employee emergency manual.
14.
Perform any other duties as requested by the camp director or
assistant camp director.
15.
Required to work scheduled hours that are assigned by the camp
director and assistant camp director which are not to exceed 40 hours
a week.

Staff
Training:
1.
Required to complete CPR and First aid training within 60days
of start date.
2.
Require to complete child abuse training within the first 60
days of employment.
