Swimmers intending to go to Districts/Jr. Districts must have 3 Y meets. High School swimmers must have 2 meets." Please email Coach Bob to be added to upcoming dual meets.

About Meets:

Please find on this site the Meet Schedule form. Save it to your computer, open it, fill out the NAME area, type an X on the chosen days, save it again with your swimmer’s name as part of the file name (meet schedule 2008-9 Joe Schmoe, or Joe_Jane_Chris Schmoe). Send a copy to me at porpoise.coach @ yahoo.com. Print a copy for your refrigerator collection. Return the Meet Schedule ASAP, before September 25th.

The Heritage YMCA encourages participation in swim meets. The fees for “Y” invitationals will be paid by the Heritage YMCA. Fees for USAS/ISI meets will NOT be paid by the Heritage YMCA. You will be billed for all fees for USAS/ISI meets. If you miss a “Y” invitational (No Show), you will be billed for the missed events. Events at both “Y” and USAS/ISI meets are generally $3.50 for each event

USAS (ISI) Registration

If you want your swimmer to take advantage of more meets, closer to home, then you might want to sign your swimmer up for the USAS (ISI) swimming. Click on the “ISI form” button, it downloads as a pdf file. Print the form. Fill out the form. Make a Xerox of the filled out form for your records. Send the form and a check ($60 made out to “Heritage YMCA” with the memo ISI Registration) to either me at practice, or through the mail to Erica Kroll at the Kroehler YMCA, 34 S. Washington, Naperville, IL, 60540.

USAS swimming is an OPTION. It is not required. You may choose to swim only "Y" meets (look for the Meet Type on your  meet sign up form, or the “Meet Choices” spreadsheet).

Your swimmer must compete in at least 3 “Y” meets to compete at Districts/Jr.Districts and State.

There are 3 kinds of meets this year:

  1. Y dual meets. The YMCA encourages meets between Y teams. Dual meets are 2 (and sometimes 3) teams agreeing to meet and swim each other. Dual meets usually take 3-1/2 hours (1/2 hour warm up and 3 hours of racing). Parents are asked to help with timing, officiating and bullpen. There is no fee for Y Dual meets.

  2. Y Invitational: Some Y’s have a larger meets where several teams are invited. Invitationals usually are scheduled for 2 or 3 days, with different ages swimming in either the AM or PM sessions. I.e.: 9-10’s and 11-12’s might swim 7-Noon, then 8-Unders + 13-Overs swim from Noon to 5PM. These meets do cost per event swum, but the Naperville (Heritage Group) YMCA encourages participation by paying the fees for Y Invitationals (sometimes called  “Y closed” Invitationals). If you have to withdraw from a meet, please notify Coach Bob 4 weeks before the meet.

If you are a “No Show” for a “Y” Invitational, you will be charged for the missed events.

  3. ISI Invitationals: If you have sent your ISI registration form and check in to Erica, you are eligible to go to ISI meets. These ISI Invitationals are generally close to home and offer a variety of events. You will have to pay for each event that you swim (a bill will be prepared for you at the Kroehler YMCA front desk) before the meet takes place. The fee is usually $2 to enter a swimmer, then $3.50 for each event that a swimmer is signed up for. Usually there are 4 or 5 events per day, including relays.

Coaches will make the event choices. Coaches will send the meet entry to the host team and post the entry to the team.

If you have to withdraw from a meet, please notify Coach Bob 4 weeks before the meet.

If you are a “No Show” for a “Y” Invitational, you will be charged for the missed events.

Some Invitationals fill up before all the teams that want to swim can get into the meet. We call this being “Shut Out”.

Championship Meets:

Districts and State 2009

Any swimmer, who is a member in good standing in their YMCA swim team, and who has been in 3 "Y" meets, should be entered in the combined District/Jr. District meet. All team members are strongly encouraged to participate in the District/Jr. District meet.

Swimmers at the District/Jr. District meet are allowed 4 swims, but only 3 swims may be individual events (or 2 relays and 2 individual events). Swimmers may combine their District and Jr. District events (i.e.: Jr. fly and Jr. bk with District breast). All swims, District and Jr. District, will take place in the same session

State times can only be made at the District meet. State times can only be made by swimmers entered in Districts with a District qualifying time (Jr. District events cannot qualify for State). See the Time Standards page.

Districts/Jr. Districts will be held at UIC in Chicago, February 28th. Girls swim in the morning, Boys in the afternoon.

State is at DeKalb YMCA on March 20&21. Boys swim Saturday, Girls on Sunday.

Meet Ages;

At “Y” dual and most “Y” closed invitationals, the age of a swimmer is their age on December 1st.

At USAS/ISI meets, a swimmer’s age is their age on the first day of the meet, which is often a Friday, whether you are swimming on the first day or not.

Meet dates are sometimes subject to change. Meet packets (invitational meets only) and driving directions for some swim meets are available, look for links with additional information (usually on the host team’s website under “meets” or “hosted meets”.

Please be sure to arrive 15 - 30 minutes ahead of warm up times. Most meets (invitationals) have positive check-ins. If a swimmer does not check in, it is assumed that they are not present and will be scratched from the meet. All swimmers are required to warm up with the team unless special arrangements have been made with Coach Bob.

A swimmer must swim in 3 YMCA sanctioned meets in order to compete in Districts/Jr. Districts and State.  The Intersquad meet is  NOT  YMCA sanctioned and cannot be counted towards the 3 meets. In order to sign up for meets, parents must return a completed meet signup form to Coach Bob by September 29th. The front desks at Kroehler and Fry, will not accept the forms. The Fry YMCA will not accept meet registrations, forms or payments (mail them to Erica, or give them to your coach).

If you miss a Y Invitational meet (No Show) that you registered for, you will be responsible for the cost of your missed events (generally $3.50 per event). To withdraw from a meet, notify Coach Bob by email 4 weeks ahead of the meet (that is when the Y has to pay for the meet entries). USAS (ISI) meet payments will be billed to each family when the entry goes in. Pay at the Kroehler YMCA in person, or send your by mail to Erica Kroll, Aquatics Director.
