A GREAT YEAR AND
A GREAT ANNUAL REPORT
Each year in mid October we
celebrate the support of our Chairman Roundtable donors with a
special dinner. Chairman Roundtable donors are individuals and
businesses that annually contribute $1000 or more to the Strong
Kids Campaign. We selected this occasion to distribute our annual
report for 2005. The theme of the report is Dream Weavers.
Your Heritage YMCA is a rich fabric
of programs and services led by volunteers and staff. Our dream
each day is to build strong kids, strong families and strong
communities. Every day at our YMCAs, volunteers, members and
staff arrive believing that by the end of the day, their good
works will have positively affected many lives.
We have worked very hard the past
several years to build new relationships and to reconnect with
existing ones in the communities we serve. The power of the YMCA
logo is a wonderful thing. People respect and trust the YMCA
because of a proven history of providing quality services in the
community. Our YMCA’s success moving forward must be built on a
foundation of mission and core values.
Our business is about changing
people’s lives. Our work is about instilling values in children
today so they will make the right decisions tomorrow. We are at
our best when we are working to lift their self-esteem so they too
have hopes and dreams for tomorrow. The way we can succeed at
this important work is by putting heroes in the lives of our
children, everyday, through every program offered, at every YMCA
location where we provide services.
Even more importantly, we must
continue our proud tradition of serving all children and families
without regard to financial abilities. Our Strong Kids Campaign
provides the funds necessary to insure we fulfill this promise to
the community.
We have many challenges as we look
forward. We never stopped being a great YMCA. We do, however,
have a capital indebtedness that exceeds $8 million. Today, I am
pleased to report that the operational balance sheet is strong,
but in order to reach the level of organizational excellence we
deserve, we must reduce our capital indebtedness.
Our 2005 Annual Report is about
making dreams reality and putting heroes in the lives of children
and families. We are thankful to our members, donors and friends
who have helped us weave this wonderful fabric that today provides
vital services to over 21,000 members and a large number of
community participants in the cities we call home.
Our work is far from complete, our
dreams far from fully realized. We are moving in the right
direction and we are thankful for your interest and support.
Please call me directly at 630-420-6277 if you would like a copy
of our annual report. You will be pleased with our progress.
