Oswego
Family YMCA Announces New Executive Hire
(Brent
Finlay Brings 20 Years of YMCA Experience To The Oswego Community)
Oswego, IL…..Tom
Beerntsen, President and CEO of the Heritage YMCA Group is pleased
to announce the hiring of Brent Finlay as the full-time Executive
Director for the Oswego Family YMCA. Brent comes to the YMCA with
twenty years of professional career experience with many successful
YMCAs. Finlay has directed YMCAs in Wisconsin, Illinois and North
Carolina.
With an official start
date of April 15th, Finlay will hit the ground running as he begins
his new duties. "Brent is a leader with a deep commitment to
advancing the key human service mission in the Oswego community. He
is a competent, reliable professional that will work closely with
the Oswego Family YMCA team already in place to bring the expanded
YMCA experiences to many more kids and families in Oswego," said Tom
Beerntsen, President and CEO, Heritage YMCA Group.
The Oswego Family YMCA
also noted that effective September, 2009, they will have a
new home in Oswego. School District #308 approved an agreement on
April 6th that allows the Oswego Family YMCA to occupy over 22,000
square feet of space in the Old Traughber Junior High School which
was also just renamed to Oswego 308 Center, in Oswego. The YMCA will
occupy the former band and choir rooms, the new gymnasium, the
locker room area as well as having access to the athletic fields on
the south side of the building. For YMCA Members and Community
Participants, this equates to a double court gym, teen center area,
aerobics studio, space for exercise equipment and free weights,
locker rooms and space for programming and offices. This represents
about a 20% occupation of the Oswego 308 Center by the Oswego Family
YMCA.
"Acquiring the new space
is an example of a true partnership between the school district, the
community and clearly will be of great benefit to our YMCA Members
and Community Participants living in Oswego. We can now have a full
YMCA program on the ground that will provide an expanded offering of
quality programs and services to children and families. I am
tremendously excited to have this opportunity to work with the
Oswego community, and given the difficult economic times we all are
facing, this couldn't be a better time to be connected with the good
works of the YMCA," said Brent Finlay, Executive Director, Oswego
Family YMCA. |
