Heritage YMCA Announces Jazzy Summer
Fundraiser
"Lexus of Naperville Jazz Festival"
(Supporting YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and
Autism Foundation)
(Naperville, IL)….There will be jumpin’
and jivin’, loud ties and spats ‘a plenty when the second annual Lexus
of Naperville Jazz Festival opens in Central Park on June 6, 7 and 8,
to benefit the Heritage YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign and the Turning
Pointe Autism Foundation. The popular weekend event, featuring Jazz
heavy hitters Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the Yellowjackets and Ross Bon and
the Mighty Blue Kings, will offer a festival atmosphere where guests
can put down a blanket, break out the picnic basket, and dance the
night away under the stars. Presenting sponsor for the event is Dan
Wolf Toyota of Naperville.
“We have two ticket levels, providing
reserved seating and lawn tickets,” says Walter Johnson, Heritage YMCA
Group Vice-President for Resource Development. “But either way, you
won’t be able to sit for long when the music starts. This is a great
mix of big band, jive, bebop, blues, gospel and fine contemporary
jazz, that will have your feet moving and your heart singing all
weekend! There will be a picnic atmosphere, with plenty of food and
drink, so folks plan to stay and enjoy a day of it. We’ve planned
something for everyone, and the best part is that we’ll be helping
kids with the proceeds.”
Friday, June 6th's evening performance
begins at 6:00 p.m., featuring contemporary swing band Big Bad Voodoo
Daddy. The band carries on the tradition of legendary bands and
orchestras like Benny Goodman and The Glen Miller Orchestra,
performing over 100 concerts around the world each year. Big Bad
Voodoo Daddy will collaborate with symphony orchestras in several
American cities this year.
Saturday, June 7th's performances begin
at 4:00 p.m. and will feature a main stage appearance by the
Yellowjackets. In 1981, a small crew of talented musicians led
by guitar virtuoso Robben Ford dedicated themselves to pushing the
boundaries of jazz with a deceptively intense, distinctive sound that
incorporated elements of bebop, funk, R&B and rock. They called
themselves the Yellowjackets, and the buzz was instantaneous. The
powerhouse quartet is still fiercely dedicated to that original vision
of improvisational jazz that draws from a vast range of musical
sources and yet defies categories. That initial buzz is no less
intense today than it was a quarter century ago.
Celebrate Sunday June 8th
with the all-new Jazz and Gospel Bunch beginning at 12:30. Your
ticket entitles you to enjoy a full, buffet self-serve menu of
delicious brunch entrees and sides compliments of Belgio's Catering of
Naperville, accompanied by some of the finest gospel music around.
Later, the main stage erupts with the manic energy of Ross Bon and The
Mighty Blue Kings. Bon’s live performances across the country
have earned him and the Mighty Blue Kings rave reviews; a mix of soul,
rock and R&B - a combination he likes to term “Indie Soul.”
Ross Bon and the Mighty Blue Kings have over 100,000 independent
albums sold and two albums climbing onto Billboard’s Blues Chart.
Proceeds of the Lexus of Naperville Jazz
Festival will help fund the Heritage YMCA's local services to families
with autistic children through Turning Pointe Autistic Foundation and
will provide YMCA program and service opportunities to families in
need. The Heritage YMCA Group turns no one away due to an inability to
pay.
Tickets are on sale now and can be
purchased at the following locations; online at
www.heritageymca.org,
www.napervillejazz.org, Toyota
of Naperville, Lexus of Naperville, Casey's Foods, Park National Bank,
Fry Family YMCA, Kroehler Family YMCA, Belgio's Catering, Chevrolet of

Food and beverage concessions will be available throughout the weekend
at each event.
