Lexus of
Naperville Jazz Festival
Features Top Jazz Performers &
Sunday Brunch on
June 8th
(Brunch,
Blues, & Family Fun....Don't
Miss a Beat! )
(Naperville, IL)…The
Heritage YMCA Group's
2nd annual Lexus of Naperville Jazz Festival
June 6, 7 and 8, 2008 in
Central Park, Naperville, IL, features nationally recognized jazz
bands that will be sure to provide anyone with an afternoon or evening
of swing tunes, buzzing vibes, soul, sweat and manic energy.
With two ticket levels providing
reserved seating and lawn seating, the festival offers an atmosphere
where guests can put down a blanket, break out the picnic basket, and
dance 'til their hearts content.
If you can't make
it out Friday or Saturday to the event, you can celebrate on
Sunday, June 8th with
the all-new Jazz and Gospel brunch beginning at 12:30. Talk about
brunch, blues and family fun, your ticket entitles you to enjoy a
full, buffet self-serve menu of delicious brunch entrees and sides
compliments of Belgio's Catering of Naperville, accompanied by some of
the finest gospel music around. The main stage will erupt with the
manic energy of Ross Bon and the Mighty Blue Kings. Bon's live
performances across the country have earned him and the Mighty Blue
Kings rave reviews; a mix of soul, rock and R&B - a combination he
likes to term "Indie Soul." Ross Bon and the Might Blue Kings have
over 100,000 independent albums sold and two albums climbing onto
Billboard's Blues Chart. This is a perfect event to bring the family
to for an afternoon of great fun, food and music to soothe the soul.
Back-tracking a
bit, the event weekend kicks-off on Friday,
June 6th, from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Central Park will be
filled with the swinging sounds of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a
contemporary swing band from Southern California. A new album is
scheduled for release on July 8th called SAVE MY SOUL, a deeply
bluesy album that has instant classic written all over it and pays
tribute not only to the wellspring of American music but, as in the
words of bandleader Scotty Morris, "my favorite musical city New
Orleans." Like the band itself, their music goes back a long ways.
With tours now spanning across the globe, we welcome them back to
Naperville
for a 2nd annual appearance.
Catch some
"buzzing vibes" on Saturday,
June 7th, 4:00 - 10:00 p.m. with
the Yellowjackets. For more than 25 years, the Yellowjackets have
pushed the boundaries of improvisational jazz, and have been leader's
in the music's inescapable evolution. In 1977, Robben Ford assembled
a group of veteran session musicians to record his album
The Inside Story, however, when
Ford and his band headed in different creative directions, keyboardist
Russell Ferrante, bassist Jimmy Haslip and drummer Ricky Lawson
renamed themselves the Yellowjackets and released their self-titled
debut album in 1981. Throughout the 90s, the Jackets continued to
explore a diverse cross-section of sound and rhythm. Lifecycle,
a Jackets/Mike Stern studio collaboration that promises to
be one of the most innovative and memorable jazz albums of 2008 is set
for release this week, and the band is scheduled to play a series of
tour dates throughout the rest of the year.
