REGISTER NOW FOR SPORTS PROGRAMS AT OSWEGO FAMILY YMCA

(Many new programs being offered at the "All NEW YMCA")

 

The Oswego Family YMCA is currently accepting registrations for its fall sports programs including My First Sports, Little Kickers and Little Dribblers, Fall Football League, Gymnastics for boys and girls, Martial Arts, Youth Basketball League (YBL), Kickers Soccer Club, Volleyball clinics, Adult Co-ed Indoor Volleyball League and more, at the "all new YMCA."

 

My First Sports is for 3-5 year olds and encourages use of small and large motor skills. YMCA character values are core to this great sports starter class that will include basketball/rimball, indoor soccer and T-ball experiences. Classes are on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.

 

Little Kickers is for 3-4 year olds and is a soccer instructional program. Players learn fundamental skills including balance, ball skills, coordination, dribbling, scoring, team-work. Little Kickers will not play competitive games. Classes are offered Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.

 

Little Dribblers is for 3-4 year olds and is a basketball instructional program. Players learn fundamentals skills such as shooting, dribbling and passing. Sportsmanship and team play is introduced in this program. Classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.

 

Fall Football League is for kids in grades 2-5. This league provides a safe and organized way to learn the game of football while promoting physical fitness. There will be one day a week for practice followed by game days on Sunday. Practice begins the week of 9/14/09.

 

Gymnastics classes are being offered to boys and girls ages 2-3, 3-5, 5-6 and 6 years and up. Classes will help develop coordination, agility, strength, balance, skills, and development. Classes are offered Mondays through Thursdays. The first session starts 9/7 and runs through 10/25.

 

Martial Arts classes called Tiny Tigers for the 4-6 year old and Junior Basics for the 6 year old and up are now available. Because of a new partnership with West of the Moon Martial Arts, this program offers fun and exciting activities to help guide your child towards self-improvement. Benefits of participation include fitness, socialization, self-defense training and more. Classes are offered Monday through Thursdays with first session starting 9/7.

 

Youth Basketball League (YBL) has over 2300 youth athletes participating in it each year. Leagues are available for grades K-4. Players learn and develop skills in an environment that stresses sportsmanship and fun. Teams are coached by volunteers and led by YMCA staff. Registration is going on now for YMCA Members and Community Participants. Practice beings 9/14/09. Games start 9/26/09 and the session ends 11/07/09.

 

Kickers Soccer Club is partnering with the YMCA staff to offer a program that emphasizes individual skill fundamentals and team tactics in a low pressure and fun environment. Kickers Soccer Club coaches are licensed and experienced players dedicated to the development of youth players. All soccer leagues are scheduled for one day of practice per week and games played on Saturday. Programs are available for kids in grades K-5. Registration is in process now for YMCA Members and Community Participants. Program session starts 9/7/09 and games begin 9/12/09. Volleyball setting, serving, passing and defense, attacking and hitting clinics are all part of the fall line-up. Clinics are being offered to kids in grades 6-9. Clinics are designed for all skill levels, will include drill, skill and technique improvement, and more depending upon which clinic is being registered for. The clinics are offered on Sundays and the first one is the Volleyball Attacking/Hitting Clinic on 9/6 from 1:00-2:00pm.

 

The Adult Co-ed Indoor Volleyball League is for adults 18 years and up and offers a competitive league on Monday nights and a recreational league on Wednesday nights. YMCA Member and Community Participant registration is in progress. Fee per team is $300. Please bring team roster to the Y at time of registration. Games begin the week of 9/28/09 and end 12/02/09.

 

Join the Y for Elbows for Lunch open basketball games during your lunch hour and shuffle elbows with the other business basketball friends to release some stress and improve overall fitness. Games are played Monday through Friday, 11:30am-2pm in the gym. Fee is free to YMCA Members and $10.00 for Community Participants. The program begins 9/7/09.

Any questions regarding sports program registration and fees associated may be directed to the Oswego Family YMCA. The YMCA never turns anyone away because of financial resources.
